The LEED Gold Vandewater residential condominium draws it’s inspiration from nearby Columbia University’s Gothic academic traditions. MVVA led design carried the strong vertical linear proportions of the building into the intricate paving pattern to elegantly resolve the technically complex grading of the site. Honey locusts are set in the traditional quincunx planting pattern, breaking up the space into garden rooms that are bracketed with schist stone blocks. Mike led the MVVA design team from contract negotiations and concept design through construction, providing continuity throughout the life of the multi-year project.
